We
come from an elephant village, Satuk District Burirum Province
- North East Thailand. This land is Thailand oldest civilisation
regarding ancient remains and elephant culture. Thailands
equivalent to Angkor Wat - Phanom Rung, lies here. Not so
long time ago the elephants were used to transport produce
from village to village and food for them was abundant.
Being
a slow proccess, the elephants have now been replaced by cars
and roads and the land used for grazing has been cleared.
With the survival and happiness of the elephants in jeopardy
the decision was reluctantly made that a new home must be
found. We want children to be able to see the elephant in
their nutural habitat. The jungle environment on Koh Chang
offers that.
As
