Set
between White Sands and Klong Phrao, the small and pebble-strewn
Khai Mook Beach (also known, and perhaps better known, as
Pearl Beach) gets but a slither of the business of its grander
neighbours, largely because it has no sand.
Yes,
it's true, Pearl Beach is a beach, it just doesn't happen
to be a sandy beach - instead it is covered in rough brown
and grey pebbles and stones. Pebbles and stones that get extremely
hot under bare feet in the middle of the day.
As
any seasoned beach goer knows, there are pros and cons to
not having sand, but one of the big advantages here is the
improved offshore snorkelling, which is actually not half
bad - especially when compare to White Sands Beach to the
north.
The
lack of sandy beach makes for more reasonable accommodation
costs, meaning if you've got your own transport, you could
easily stay here while commuting to other (more expensive)
beaches on the island.
