Rayong
Aquarium
was
established by Department of Fisheries since 1997,
however the construction finished in May, 2004.
The
construction cost in total 193,197,015 baht. Nowadays
Rayong Aquarium is organized under the Eastern
Marine Research and Development Center, Department
of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operatives,
with the objectives as follows
1.
Educate visitor on marine life, many species of
fishes and other marine organisms. Visitors will
learn about fisheries practice as well.
2. Conduct research on marine life.
3. Serve as a recreation site and promote tourism.

The Marine Aquarium
1.1
Marine fishes, 43 indoor tanks capacities range
from 1-4 tonnage
Coral reef fishes : anemonefish,
butterflyfish, angelfish, parrotfish, wrasse,
giant moray, sea horse, spiny lobster etc.
Economic fishes : groupers, snapper,
babylon, Locust Lobster, shrimps, crabs.
Odd shaped and poisonous fishes : lionfish,
stonefish, porcupinefish, horse-shoe crab, sea
urchin.
Touch pool : ecosystem of shallow
water coral reef e.g. sea star sea cucumber.

Big Tanks
Cylinder tank 40 tons : mackerel
and pelagic fish
Turtle pool 280 tons : sea turtles,
the endangered animal e.g. green turtle, hawksbill
turtle.
Tunnel tank 400 tons : sizable fish
e.g. giant grouper, sweetlip, Eagle ray, Cobia,
Theadfinned Trevally, Golden Trevally.

Model of marine mammals
Turtle migratory monitoring program,

One
hundred and forty varieties of correctly identified
shell collection were on display.
