Bailan
Beach Resort
is located directly on the Beach in the small village of Bailan
in the southwest of Koh Chang Island.
This
recently opened Resort is located in a little Bay and offers
a fantastic, undisturbed views on the Sea and amazing Sunsets.
The sandy Beach provides the opportunity to relax during the
day or have Barbeque in the evening.
Our
Bungalows, all of them equipped with modern facilities, stand
in a Lush Green Garden between Coconut Trees and other Tropical
Plants.
Many of the Bungalows are located a few meters from the Beach,
and you will wake up each day to the sound of waves lapping
against the shore.
There are Hammocks strung between Coconut Trees where you
can read a Book from our free Bookshelf.
Our
Garden View Bungalows are located in our Garden between
Palm Trees and other Tropical Plants. The Furniture, handcrafted
from solid dark wood in old Thai Style, gives the rooms a
special design.

Don't bother washing your clothes, beach towels or swimsuits
during your holidays! Our Laundry Service can do this for
you. It's inexpensive and easy.
If
you want to move around Koh Chang individually, you can rent
a Motorbike. Just ask at the Reception.
Our
Massage Service offers Traditional Thai Massage, the more
western-like Oil Massage and Foot Massage.
The making of Braids is also provided.
Bailan
is a quiet little village in the south-west of Koh Chang who
is part of the Koh Chang National Marine Park, situated between
the jungle of the mountains and the sea.
In
contrast to the sometimes overcrowded places around, Bailan
is perfect to relax.
People
are very friendly and accommodation and restaurants are available
in a great variety, from no-star to 5-star category. There
are no Lady-Bars or Discos, but you will find numerous places
for relaxing, finding new friends, making barbecue or enjoying
the amazing fauna and flora of the island and the surrounding
sea.
Bailan
is a small village in the southwest of Koh Chang between the
party zone of Lonely Beach (1.5 km to the north) and the old
fishermen village Bang Bao (5 km south) with seafood restaurants
and souvenir and handcrafts shops.
Many
residents of Bailan are locals, taking care to develop soft
tourism to protect the nature.
You will find no 'Walking Street' with Ladybars over and over,
no disco or beach party, but you will find a place of friendliness
in the middle of an amazing powerfull nature between the mountains
and the sea.
Still
no need to miss party! As the party mile of Lonely Beach is
just 1.5 km away, it is easy to have fun there all night long
and chill out in your quiet bungalow in Bailan, watching the
sunrise over the sea.
Communication
There is a Phonebooth at the center of Bailan and an Internet
Caf? providing the most common communication programms like
Skype and a bunch of Instant Messengers. You can use your
mobile phone all over the island.
Shopping
& More
There are 2 shops/supermarkets for necessities (one at each
end of Bailan) and several shops for clothes, shoes, hammocks
and souvenirs. Don't bother washing your clothes, beach towels
or swimsuits during your holidays! One of the many laundries
can do this for you. It's inexpensive and easy.
Health
& Beauty
The Herbal Sauna Bailan provides steam bath, massage, treatments
for your hair, face and skin and much more. Just opposite
of the sauna, you will find Miss Nuss Beauty Salon. It offers
hair treatment, manicure and pedicure.
Mobility
You can rent different kinds of motorbikes at several places.
Coconut Cafe' have motorbikes and a brandnew Pickup for rent.
Gasoline in bottles is sold at almost every house, but there
are also 2 pumps, one at each of the supermarkets. Gasoline
is less expensive here. If you have problems with your motorbike
(e.g. a flat tire), come to Mrs. Junn's shop at the south
end of Bailan next to the Beauty Salon or to Coconut Cafe'.
The
most common health problems on Koh Chang are sunburns, insect
bytes, infected little wounds and grazes from motorbike accidents.
If
you encounter one of the problems mentioned above, the Bang
Bao Health Center will give you professional help for reasonable
prices. (No need to pay 4.000.- Baht just to see the doctor
like in some private hospitals on the island).
They
also do Malaria Tests, giving you the result next day.
On
Koh Chang, crime rate is very low. Nevertheless, there are Police
boxes and stations well-spread all over the island.
In
Bailan, the Police Box is at the south end between Miss Junn's
Shop and Rock Inn
For
special cases or when you encounter communication problems,
local Police may help you to contact the next Tourist Police
Office.
Swimming
is easy and safe in high season. The light slope of the beaches
on Koh Chang is ideal for children. Water is warm, clean and
calm.
In
Bailan, there are two little beaches inviting to swim. One
is located at the north at Bailan Beach Resort near Orchid
Resort, the other lies more to the south, a 50 meters from
the Herbal Sauna and Bailan Inn.
Also,
you can find a long beach at 2 km to the north and another
very quiet one 5 km to the south (our recommendation). Both
are easily reachable per Taxi or motorbike.
You
will find swimming and beach equipement like swim suits, beach
towels, inflatable toys, sun and insect protection, balls,
frisbees, hammocks and more at the various shops on Koh Chang.
Snorkeling
is very popular on Koh Chang, as The National Marine Park preserves
the many coral reefs and their inhabitants. This leads to big
fish populations and a great variety of species.
Snorkeling trips start at 700 Baht.
Every
snorkeling tour includes free snorkel set, lunch, drinkink
water and the transfer from and back to your hotel/resort.
The
sea of the Koh Chang Archipelago offers a great number of
excellent diving sites. The reefs are full of all sort of
corals and fishes. From time to time, you can even spot Sea
Turtles and Wale Sharks.
As some reefs are located at 5 to 10 meters, there are ideal
for beginners. Other, deeper ones are reserved for experienced
divers.
Fishing
is possible nearly everywhere in the Sea around Koh Chang.
There are many well-equiped boats and the experienced crews
will take you to the right places and give you any support.
As
dense jungle covers a great part of Koh Chang and there are
many ways to enjoy this extraordinary environment.
Starting
in Bailan, you can take a local guide for the way to the fishermen
village Bang Bao in the south, right across the jungle. If
you are lucky, you can see monkeys, rare birds or snakes.
Elephant
Trekking is an unforgettable experience.
Elephants are generally very estimated in Thailand, but they
are especially on Koh Chang (which means 'Elephant Island').
No wonder that many ground owners and Resorts donate (very
quickly growing) Banana Trees to feed the Elephants. Ride
through the Jungle, passing rubber and grapefruit plantations,
and finally take a bath with this friendly giants.
There
are several waterfalls on Koh Chang. Some of them can be visited
for free, some ask an entry fee of 400 Baht from foreigners.
On
the beautiful trees and with breathtaking views, you will
experience new sensations never felt before.

The
National Marine Park Koh Chang consists of 51 islands
near the border to Cambodia. Koh Chang is the largest island
of this archipelago and the number 2 in Thailand after Phuket.
About
80% of the mountainous island is covered with dense jungle,
home of a huge variety of animals, such as 74 bird species,
apes, lizards and much more.
Watch out for them on a guided jungle tour or elephant trekking.
You can also do wildlife watching during a bath at one of
the waterfalls scattered all over the island.
As
the sea between the islands is part of the National Park,
there are excellent snorkeling and diving sites, where you
will be surrounded by corals and thousands of fishes.
The
Koh Chang Archipelago knows two seasons:
The
dry season (November to May)
Not so hot from November to Dezember(26? to 30?), then temperatures
raises up to 35?.
Even
in the busiest time from Dezember to May, the island is not
overcrowded.
The
raining season or green season (June to Oktober)
From time to time there may be heavy rain. Nevertheless, there
are still sunny days and resorts, hotels, restaurants and
facilities are still open. So it is a good time for a visit
for those looking for more quiet holidays.

all resorts and hotels offer special low green season prices!
In
opposition to the other islands around, Koh Chang has fulltime
electricity and a developed infrastructure.
There
are bank offices, ATMs, police stations and hospitals all
around the island. In the last years, a growing number of
dental clinics and even a plastic surgery clinic opened their
doors on Koh Chang.
Shopping
for clothes or souvenirs is as easy as finding brand optical
glasses or contact lenses for unbeatable prices.
Necessities,
like high factor sun protection(international brands) can
be purchased at every drug store or supermarket to low prices.
Koh
Chang provides a main road following the coast nearly all around
the island. You can rent a motorbike or car for fair conditions,
you can take one of the many cheap share taxis or have a walk
through amazing nature.
Please
note: if you want to rent a motorbike on Koh Chang, you should
be an experienced biker because of its steep mountains and
the sometimes dangerous traffic.
