Come join us at laid-back Lonely Beach, on the island of Ko Chang for drinks, good food, and live music. Joy Cottage is located on the north end of Lonely Beach — well away from the party noise — but is still only an easy five minute walk to the beach itself. We offer something for everyone — tasty authentic Thai food, pizza and other Western dishes, inexpensive accommodation, bookings for trekking or diving trips, motorbike rentals, transport arrangements, and more.

When you’re tired of the packaged resort experience or would like to get a good night’s sleep without the thump thump of the late-night party scene, come visit our family-run operation and experience the true Thai island lifestyle.

Internet access can be difficult to find and expensive on Lonely Beach. We offer free wifi to all customers, whether you are staying the night, having dinner, or just enjoying a cool drink.

Restaurant

You really owe it to yourself to try the best food on Lonely Beach, if not all of Ko Chang. With over 200 items on our menu, you’ll never go hungry at Joy Cottage. We offer healthy, authentic Thai dishes and back-home favorites such as pizza, salads, steaks, pasta, and sandwiches made with fresh homemade bread. The level of spiciness can be adjusted to your liking. You just may enjoy the cuisine so much that you sign up for one of our Thai cooking classes.

Monday night is our big party night, with an all-you-can-eat buffet. The menu changes every week and everything is served with a spicy dipping sauce that will make your friends green with envy when they hear of it. Live music is on hand, with Sticky Rice Blues and guests playing old-fashioned rock from the 60s and 70s.

Bungalows

We offer clean, quiet bungalows for rent at very affordable prices. Instead of being kept up all night by rowdy parties, you will sleep well and awaken in the morning to the sounds of birds and the occasional gentle hoot of a monkey.

Follow up with a good Thai or Western breakfast and coffee and you’ll be ready for the day’s adventures.

Each bungalow features:

Queen-sized bed
A garden setting at the rain forest’s edge

Some bungalows are available with AC. Prices range from 400-900 baht per night. Our bungalows sell out quickly, so don’t delay!

Services

At Joy Cottage, we can take the stress out of your holiday by booking activities for you, renting motorbikes and more. We speak English and can help you sort through the many choices. Some of the options we offer include:

Thai Cooking Classes — Spend a day learning how to cook healthy, flavorful Thai dishes and really impress your friends when you get back home. The instructor, Dta, focuses on eating healthy — using Thai herbs and ingredients — and has been cooking in restaurants for over ten years. She speaks excellent English and is a very patient instructor.

Motorbike Rental — We rent well-maintained manual and automatic Honda scooters for 24 hours at an affordable rate. Ko Chang is a large island and a motorbike allows you to see all of it at your own pace. Just remember to hit the brakes on the steep hills.

Elephant Trekking — Ride an elephant into the largest protected rain forest in all of Asia, with sightings of many species of birds, mammals, and reptiles.

Snorkeling — We can arrange half- and full-day snorkeling trips to many smaller outlying islands.

Treetop Adventures — Let us arrange an exciting and educational trip through the rain forest canopy, moving from spot to spot via zip lines.

Tour Boats — Get a feel for the true size of Ko Chang from the comfort of a tour boat.

Fishing Trips — Have dreams of reeling in a big one? We can set you up with a charter trip to where they’re biting at the moment.

Transport — We can arrange transport to Bangkok, Pattaya, Ko Samet, Cambodia, and more. We

To reach Lonely Beach and Joy Cottage, simply board a shared taxi/truck from the ferry landing. These converted pick up trucks are a mix between buses and taxi’s. If there are enough people to fill the taxi, the driver will charge between 80 and 100 baht to take you to Joy Cottage. If you arrive late and there are less people, he will ask for a higher rate or wait for the next ferry to bring more people.

We can arrange transportation for you back to the ferry and onward to Bangkok or other destinations if you like
