Off
the west coast of Koh Chang is a small group of islands
delightfully visible especially from Kai Bae Beach.
These included Koh Yuak which has a small beach front
of sand formed from decayed coral, the water clean and
shallow qualifying its as a good snorkeling spot.
From
the shore over Sea View Resort & Spa Koh Chang, the
islands form a picturesque view especially during sunset
next to Koh Yuak is Koh Plee and Koh Suwan, both of them
have rocky shores. Around the area of Koh Suwan is an
unnamed isle which is found to harbor colorful coral about
6 meters deep. Locals call this Koh Rom which means Umbrella
Island because of an outstanding beautiful big tree with
an umbrella share. This is a newfound snorkeling site.
Further down south is Koh Man-Nai which is directly facing
the shore of Sea View Resort & Spa Koh Chang. The
water between the resort and Koh Man-Nai is quite shallow.
During the low tide when island bare its loves sandy beach
one can actually walk across the sea from the resort to
Koh Man-Nai.
Another
island is so called Koh Man-Nok, looks as its behind
Koh Suwan. It is the Twin Island to Koh Man-Nai and
is linked together by shallows with plentiful of gold-colored
seaweed.
Koh
Chang Island. Thailand National Park. The
Koh Chang Island National Park covers the Chang Island
and other smaller isles within Trat territorial water.
All these lovely places have an abundant and thriving
coral reef and underwater marine environment.
Koh
Chang, The largest among the 52 islands of Trat, is
also the nations second largest island, after Phuket.
Covering an area of 429 sq. kilometers. it features
fine beaches, coral reefs, and plentiful marine life.
It is also rich in nature resources, teeming with hills
forests, waterfalls and streams, the latter being an
important source of freshwater. Dotting the island are
many fruit orchards
Most
of the scenic beaches and bays are located on the western
side, extending from the north to the south. They include
Ao Klong Son, White Sand Beach, Klong Prao Beach and
Kai Bae Beach. A road cuts through the western shore
almost all the way to Kai Bae Beach. Ao Bai Lan and
Ao Kruat meanders through wet forestland to Ban Bang
Bao, a fishing community located at the foot of the
hill in the south.
To
the east are Ao Sapparot, where a ferry landing is situated,
and Ao Salak Khok. Along the eastern shoreline is a
road that cuts through to Ao Salak Phet, a community
and a boat pier in the south of the island. However,
care should be exercised while driving for the roads
on Koh Chang are paved, with steep hills in some sections.
The best places for viewing coral reefs are at Ao Klong
Son, near Koh Chang Noi, and around the islands to the
south of Koh Chang.
On
Koh Chang itself are several accessible waterfalls.
The Klong Plu waterfall is located 3 kilometers from
Ao Klong Prao and a further 20 minutes walk from the
parking lot. The Klong Nonsi waterfall is 4 kilometers
walk from the park headquarter, while the Kiriphet and
Klong Nung waterfalls are about 3 kilometers from Ban
Salakpet.
Second
in size to Koh Chang, Koh Kood is located in the southernmost
point in Trat territorial water. A speedboat transport
visitors to the island within an hour.
The
inhabitants grow rubber, coconut and other fruit-yielding
plants, while others are fishermen. With scenic beaches
shaded by rows of pines and coconut trees mostly located
on the western shores, it is also blessed with rich
mangroves.
