Helis Kitchen at Logans Place, located in the heart of White Sand Beach, has quickly become one of the area's favorite spots. The restaurant serves amazing sandwiches, burgers and great salads, as well as authentic Thai food. Guests can choose from the ample selection of tropical drinks and natural fruit juices. The bar includes draft beers, as well as an extensive selection of wine, bottled beers, and liquors.

Helis Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, and is open daily from 7am until 11pm. The restaurant offers a casual atmosphere, with a tropical twist, the food is superb, and the service is outstanding.

ABOUT KOH CHANG

With white sand beaches, waterfalls, coral reefs and an archipelago of more than 50 islands, uncrowded Koh Chang is a real tropical paradise. Thailand's second largest island. Mangroves and beach forest line the shores, and the whole island supports a huge diversity of wildlife.

Stretching down the eastern coast are countless idyllic islands ans escapist small beach resorts. The most glimmering of the jewels is Koh Chang. White sand, turquise waters and an exquisite setting for a perfect tropical vacation.

Koh Chang - a paradise it is. A place for recreation in a tropical setting, with peace in mind, to recharge the energies of life. But this paradise is easy to reach. Koh Chang is only 330 km east of Bangkok, or 4 hours by road/40 minutes by air - plus 30 minutes by ferry.

Not well know, Koh Chang is actually the second largest island of Thailand, behind Koh Phuket. Despite its size and the close distance from Bangkok, Koh Chang is least known, undeveloped, untouched and forgotten for decades.

Koh Chang Marine National Park is a secret yet to be explored. Nearly 75% of the Marine Park is protected by law, under the jurisdiction of the Forestry Department of Thailand. This explaines how it remains avirgin wonderland protected from devasting development.

The locals as well as visiting guests are pleased the way it is. A paradise for those who appreciate nature as its basics more than the sophisticated over-developed modernity as we find it in Phuket.

The coastlines of Koh Chang archipelago is a spectacular work of natures art and there are beautiful beaches, coves and bays around the islands. Colorful coral reefs, clear blue sea and warm waters. On the islands we find fertile rainforests, untrekked jungles, high peaks, breathtaking waterfalls and fascinating wildlife. All waiting to be discovered.

TROPICAL LIFE OF KOH CHANG

Most of the islands activities, including accommodation, places to eat and dive centres are concertrated around the beaches of White Sand, Klong Prao, Kai Bae, Thanam, Bang Bao and Gong Goi, all scattered along the western coastline of the island. There is no shortage of restaurants on the island, with menus following both local and European dishes.

A variety of boat trips are available around the islands. These can be used as a means to travel between the islands or simply to go for a day trip of sightseeing or snorkelling.

Beaches
The main beaches on Koh Chang are all on the West coast and are, from North to South, Hat Sai Khao (White Sands Beach), Klong Prao, Kai Bae and Hat Ta Nam (Lonely Beach). There is also a beach past the village of Bang Bao in the Southwest of the island and a couple of others including Long Beach in the far southeast. All of the beaches are in an attractive setting. White Sands Beach has the most development and entertainment. Khlong Prao and Kai Bae have fewer resorts but still have quite a few restaurants/bars etc. Hat Ta Nam, whilst not that lonely any more, is quieter and more remote.

Diving & Snorkelling
There are some excellent diving and snorkelling opportunities around Koh Chang.The diving in the area is primarily at reasonably shallow depths with good reefs located at 5 to 25 metres. Visibility can reach 30m but is variable depending on time and location - it generally is worse near to the full moon and better to the South of the islands. Diving can be done year round but the best time to dive is between October and the end of May since rougher seas during the rains can reduce visibility. There are good reefs in the area with a variety of soft and hard corals including Massive, Columnar and Stagshorn Corals. These support a range of tropical reef life including Blue Tipped Rays, Moray Eels, Trigger Fish, Grouper and Batfish. Turtles can be spotted and Whale Sharks are seen in the area from time to time. The most unique diving opportunity in the region is what is probably the world's only Vertical Wreck. This is a gas tanker that has sunk at 90 degrees due to the remaining gas it holds. It descends from 5m to 60m and is home to a host of marine species. Trips to the wreck can be arranged through any of the various dive operations on the island.
