Paddy’s
Palms is Koh Changs first Irish pub, located just up the hill
from the beautiful White Sand Beach. The pub is set on two
storeys and displays Irish memorabilia throughout - bar signs,
various mirrors advertising Irish fare, framed sports jerseys,
the map of the rugged Irish coastline even an old bicycle.
Many of these items are from the owners’ family pub in Kilkenny,
Ireland. Bar stools, leather sofas, tables and an outdoor
seating area give you the choice of comfort
Paddy’s
Pub, as you would expect serves draught Guinness and Kilkenny
as well as a wide selection of beers, spirits, ciders and
cocktails in a traditional Public House atmosphere. Live sports
are shown on big screens and a pool table is upstairs for
customers to play away the day. If you need to catch up on
your e-mails bring your laptop and use the free wireless internet.

The
menu offers a wealth of European and Thai food with classics
pub dishes such as Irish stew, big breakfasts, and shepherds
pie. Join us to enjoy the special Sunday roasts of beef or
chicken. If these don’t fill you up then try one of the home
made desserts. A children’s menu is also available so families
are well catered for.

Koh
Chang literally translates as “Elephant Island” due to when
it was originally approached by sea it was likened to a sleeping
elephant. It is the second largest island in Thailand, but
thankfully, due to the mountains and rainforest it has not
developed at the same pace as other islands in Thailand.
In
1982 the island together with 46 small islands became protected
as the Mu Koh Chang Marine National Park. It was not until
the year 2000 that a paved road was built, bringing electricity
and phone lines to the paradise isle. The islands development
has continued, but due to the lush rainforests and mountains
the original beauty is kept intact and on show to all who
visit. However an excellent road from Bangkok and a new flight
to Trat airport, have meant the destination is now starting
to get the attention that it deserves The many beaches on
the western coast continually attract tourists from all over
the globe. Koh Chang has spectacular waterfalls where you
can swim, relax and enjoy the splendour of the natural surroundings
of flora and rainforest.
The
largest of the mountains is Salek Phet, which stands 744 meters.
The island`s thick rainforest is home to many species including
macaque monkeys, barking deer and wild pig. Elephant riding
is an enjoyable and popular day trip especially when it’s
their bath time – prepare to get wet!!
The picturesque east coast is much less developed and still
holds many characteristics of typical Thai living. Many locals
still fish, farm and enjoy life as they have always lived
before tourists became aware of the beauty of Koh Chang.
Many
activities are available including diving, trekking, sailing,
and cooking courses. There are also many spas and saunas on
the island.
Whatever
you are seeking in your holiday you are sure to find it on
KOH CHANG!!
