We couldn't describe the exceptional qualities of this wonderful Thai island more accurate than de Telegraaf newspaper did in her quire de Reiskrant on 20 november, 2004 in a leading article:

"Koh Chang , paradise on earth, offers smashing nature and serene quiet..."

How come?
The Thai government has declared Koh Chang an environmental protected area: no hotel towers will be built, the sea and her corals are protected, a.o. by allowing only limited motorized boat traffic, and also the rainforest with her unique flora en fauna are under permanent ecological protection.

This guarantees the unspoiled and paradisiac atmosphere of Koh Chang for the future.

You will be amazed by the pureness of the island, not spoilt by too much tourism. You will encounter snow-white palmbeaches and a steel blue sea, providing excellent swimming water.
You will find the National Park almost on our door-step: an untouched tropical rainforest with rich variegations of tropical fauna and dotted with flowers and butterflies of rare beauty.

Rock Sand Resort lies at White Sand Beach, one of the prettiest parts of this beautiful island.

Our resort has been rebuilt alomost completely in 2004 and 2005, at which she has been newly run up from natural materials. The picturesque complex consists of a central building, lying directly at the beach, with lobby, bar, restaurant and reception, while the various lodges and rooms are located among the natural offshoots of the jungle, thus greatly being hidden from sea- and forest-view.

Even though saying goodbye has always something sad in it, these kind of farewell's ever fill us with joy.
Rock Sand shouldn't just be a resort. In Rock Sand we want out guests to feel completely at home, so that they leave with a feel of regret. With this goal in mind, we try to make every guest feel utterly comfortable during their stay with us.

Even when you would decide to spend your whole vacation at Rock Sand's, you should never feel bored and your holidays should be unforgettable.

The environment of Rock Sand Resort

As a temporary inhabitant of Rock Sand Beach Resort, you can participate in all sorts of activities and trips, which this island has to offer, against guest-prices. You can get information and book your trips at our comfortable Tourist Information Point in the nearby vollage of Klong Son.

In the village of White Sand Beach, which you will find on a nice walk-distance (about 10 minutes) from Rock Sand Resort, you will find several supermarkets, massage-saloons and souvernir-shops. In this village, you will also find some internet-facilities. Also, your digital photographs can be printed (or burned on CD-ROM) by Kodak. Observe the prices! They vary a lot...
Of course, you will find a drink and a bite here.

Bars are opened at night, showing various attractions, from lovely 1970-style live music up to even transvestite shows...

The offerinfg in nature-neuaty on Koh Chang is overwelming, and you can sxplore this in several ways: there are jungleytipd for boths groups and individuals> you may also choode to rent a Private guide..

When you see Koh Chang while approaching it on the ferryboat, and you try to displace in the fantasyworld of eastern people, you can see the silhouette of an elephant, bathing in the see, in the coust-hills contours.

Who wouldn't like to ride on the back of an elephant?
Koh Chang does mean "elephant-island", doesn't it?.
This is our island. This is Koh Chang, and a ride on the back of an elephant becomes utterly unforgettable when you take the elephant to see, and take a bath together with the animal.
Just share the intense pleasure of the elephant and enjoy the lovely warm water.
This feeling is not to be compared with anything...

Chantabouri

Chantabouri is a nice town with shops, a large and lively market and the roofed-in mall "Robinson", wjere you also will find western-like ice-saloons and coffee-corners.

In Robinson, practically everything is for sale, from mops to musical instruments, and (of course) to the, for a western tourist, incredibale low prices.
From Trat, buses leave regularly to Chantabouri. Travelling time is about 1.5 hours.

Trat
Trat lies directly at the coast near Koh Chang and is to be reached easily by ferry and bus. Apart from all kinds of shops and the market, Trat also has various historical places of interest, that attract many travellers. You may also have a good change to find yourself in the middle of a local cultural feast...

Travel Information
From Bangkok Airport in the following two steps:

From Bangkok to Trat
The easiest way is by airplane. There are two flights per day, four days a week:
on monday, wednesday, friday and saturday.
This plane will bring you to Trat Airport in about 45 minutes.
Departures from Bangkok to Trat: at 08.10 AM and 3.40 PM.
Departures from Trat to Bangkok: at 09.30 AM and 3.00 PM

An alternative way of travelling is by bus, which leaves regularly from the Ekamai busstation in Bangkok from 06.00 AM up until 11.00 PM. This bus journey takes about 5 hours time.

Next: from Trat to Koh Chang island.
From the center of Trat it is only a short walk to the ferry boats.
You can also take a "share-taxi" from various locations in Trat, which will bring you to the

- Laem Ngab pier, or
- Koh Chang Ferry pier.

From this pier you take the ferry to the Dan-Kao pier on Koh Chang to get to White Sand Beach. You may also considder taking a stop half way this route at Klong Son. Here you will find our Information Kiosk along the road.

When you arrive in White Sand Beach you may call us so we can pick you up with a shuttle bus, or you may prefer taking a taxi to get to Rock Sand Resort.
