Certainly
one of the nicest places in the area, The Mangrove has very
basic stilted wooden huts, but designed with elegance and
an eye for detail, and situated on a breezy slope covered
in tropical jungle. There is plenty of room inside, and the
few pieces of furniture are co-ordinated to the house.
All very natural looking, some larger huts have an upper level
that is open yet covered to catch the views and the breeze.
Down by the waterfront there's a claming deck with gorgeous
views and a restaurant run by three friendly Thai ladies.
From here you can reach a tiny patch of sand although it's
not quite a beach. It's one of those places which grow on
you if you can handle nature, but if you like mod cons look
elsewhere. They generally close down for the majority of the
low season.
