PADI
Open Water Diver Course Outline

Zones purpose made swimming pooland 4 open water dives from
our boat M.V.Evolution. You will then be a PADI Openwater
diver!! It's as simple as 1 2 3 4 5!
Theory
The dive theory you need to cover is contained in the PADI
manual or available online with the new E-learning system
so you can say goodbye to carrying books around with you..
The theory covers basic principles, explores the physics and
physiological information that you need to get the most out
of your diving safely. The learning material is exceptionally
well written and PADI remains the no.1 way the world learns
to dive. The manual is designed to used on a self study basis
and is broken down into five chapters each of which contain
quick quizes and a knowledge review to test what you are learning.
It will take no time at all to watch the DVD and whizz through
the quizzes and PADI Openwater book and Scuba Zone's instructors
will give you all the assistance you require..
Most
of Scuba Zones students choose to read the manual and complete
it at their own pace. If you would like a Scuba Zone instructor
tocoach you through then no problem. Thats what Scuba Zone
does best, looking after their students from start to finish.
Alternatively you can complete the theory part of the course
via e-learning.
Confined
Water Sessions
The confined water section through the skills that you need
to go to the Openwater in the safety of Scuba Zones swimming
pool. There are five sessions. In each session you will be
introduced to new skills through a process of explanation,as
well as a demonstration from your PADI instructor before you
have to complete each skill. Each skill builds upon what you
already have done until you are confident with each skill
so that you will know how to dive safely. We conduct the pool
sessions normally in the afternoons.
Open
Water Dives
This is the most exciting phase of the course, aboard our
boat M.V.Evolution you will complete four open water dives
over two days where you will demonstrate the skills that you
have learnt during your pool sessions whilst discovering the
Koh Chang's dreamy aquatic life and mind blowing corals! Once
again the process is progressive so your first dive is really
just a dive to get you used to being in Open Water.
Course

Advanced
Open Water Diver

There
are plenty of different reasons why students sign up for the
PADI Advanced Open Water course.
Some
feel that they want to gain more experience from Scuba Zone's
PADI instructors and undertake underwater tasks, to see different
creatures or experience new adventures.
Some
dive centres insist that PADI Open Water divers are supervised
and this can cut down your dive time due to the buddy system,
however as an PADI Advanced Open Water diver your qualification
adds more credibility so you will dive with people to the
same ability.
However,
the largest incentive to complete the PADI Advanced Open Water
course is the fact that you will be trained to dive to 30
metres as opposed to 18 metres for Open Water divers.
It
is widely recognised that there are greater attractions, such
as wrecks and sea-life at these depths.
Take
the PADI Advanced Open Water course to open up even more exciting

PADI
Rescue Diver
The
PADI Rescue Diver course is a pivotal step in expanding a
diver’s knowledge and experience. Rescue Divers learn to look
beyond themselves to consider the safety and well-being of
other divers.
This
is why the PADI Rescue Diver certification is a prerequisite
for all PADI leadership-level training (PADI Divemaster, Assistant
Instructor and Open Water Scuba Instructor).
The
course introduces the necessary skills required in the unlikely
event of a diving accident and builds your confidence providing
you with valuable experience in emergency management. You
will learn to deal with tired, panicked and unresponsive divers
and learn in water resuscitation techniques.

Freediving
Freediving
is freedom. A scuba diver relies on compressed air and equipment
to enjoy the aquatic life Koh Chang has to offer where as
a freediver relies on a single breath of air to explore the
undersea world. Moving gracefully without wasting energy,
a freediver can spend upto 7 minutes underwater and experience
the ocean as all other marine life does. Free from tanks and
BCD's, a freediver can sneak up on a leapard shark, or fin
to the bottom for a meeting with a blue spotted ray or check
out the coral.
Scuba
Evolution goes DIR friendly....
We
are the only tec diving outfit on Koh Chang also known as
Tecevolution. We are now a DIR friendly centre and M.V.Evolution
is now kitted up and ready to go for all tec divers. We stock
50% O2, 80% O2 and 100% O2 and have had a new delivery of
40 cu deco tanks. Helium is available everyday of the year
for any dives you wish to use. We also have rental gear for
people who don't want to carry thier own gear around the world.
Apeks XTX 200's, backgas ,XTX50's, deco regs. Wings we have

Koh
Chang has many hidden wrecks not so far from the shore and
Scuba Evolution has invested time and money to find these
wrecks and more importantly take you diving on them!! All
wrecks found in the last month are all very interesting dives
and most at 43 metres and deeper require twin set diving.
We are offering DSAT Tec Deep and TDI courses so it offers

Gas Blender Course
More people are diving with enriched air, Tec diving is also
becoming main stream so this means the demand for enriched
air fills and helium mixes is also increasing.
However,
there needs to be someone qualified to administer these fills
to meet this demand. This is where the PADI Gas Blender and
TDI Gas Blender courses come in.
It
can result in certifications: PADI Gas Blender, PADI Trimix
Blender, TDI Nitrox Blender or TDI Trimix Blender.
What
You'll Learn
The Gas Blender courses will train you as a qualified gas
blender, allowing you to provide gas mixes to appropriately
certified consumers.
You'll
learn the physical properties of oxygen and helium, its associated
hazards, handling requirements and what cleaning equipment
is necessary. Finally, you will learn the five methods of
obtaining the desired enriched air nitrox mix and the various
methods used to obtain proper helium mixes.
The Learning Materials You'll Need
What
are the four main types of oxygen? What is oxygen clean? What
are the five methods for blending Enriched Air? How to mix
helium with O2 and air to go to deep depths. These questions
and more are covered in the Gas Blender manuals from DSAT
and TDI.
As
a gas blender you must be familiar with the physical properties
of oxygen, its various forms and purities, hazards and special
handling requirements. The Gas Blender Manual and CD-ROM,
in conjunction with your instructor, will familiarize you
with the procedures and techniques needed for gas blending.
TDI
Advanced Nitrox
The TDI Advanced Nitrox Course qualifies divers to use enriched
air nitrox from EAN 21 through EAN 100 to a depth of 40 metres
during dives that do not require staged decompression. Often
taught in conjunction with the TDI Decompression Procedures
course, this can be considered the foundation of your technical
diving career. Advanced Nitrox is also a great course for
those wanting to extend their bottom times in shallower depths
such as scientific diver, and a must for SCR or CCR divers.
The course cover topics like
Equipment
requirements
Dive planning
Oxygen tracking
Blending methods
You
will use the TDI Advanced Nitrox Diving manual for your course,
which explains in an easy to understand practical manner the
complex information that Advanced Nitrox divers need to know.
The
Decompression Procedures course can be run side by side with
Advanced Nitrox course for maximum benefit.
As
sport divers planned decompression is not something that we
do or have been taught. The TDI Decompression Procedures course
prepares you for planned staged decompression diving. With
a maximum operating depth of 45m/150 feet, this course is
your first step beyond the normal sport diving limits. Your
TDI Instructor will provide you with valuable information
and skills, among the topics covered are..

( This is the DSAT chart from zero to hero of Tec diving.
This will turn you into the ultimate Tec Diver once you have
completed each course to Tec Trimix Diver)
-
Kit set-up
- Equipment requirements
- Decompression techniques
- Decompression breathing gases
- Gas management
- Contingency planning
The
TDI Decompressions Procedures course combined with the TDI
Advanced Nitrox course form the foundation of all other technical
courses. After these two courses and some additional experience,
the stage has been set for you to move onto additional technical
levels. Some of the materials you will be using include the
TDI Divers Guide to Decompression Procedures, US Navy or Buhlmann
Air Decompression Tables.

wreck of approx 70meters size marked by 2 large red buoys
and is situated approx 200meters from the shore on the South
Westerly corner of Koh Chang.
The warship(s), Sinking quite close to shore having been 'beached'
in relatively shallow water in an area of sometimes strong
currents and often poor 'muddy water' visibility, this large
wreck must be dived at the right time to be seen at all. The
ideal time is when a 'neaps' slack tide occurs around mid-day,
during a prolonged period of calm flat seas. If dived at this
time, visibility of 5-10m may be expected. If randomly dived
during a tidal run in average weather, you might not see the
wreck till you hit it (visibility of 30cm to 2m is not fun!)

Freediving
Freediving
is freedom.
A
scuba diver relies on compressed air and equipment to enjoy
the aquatic life Koh Chang has to offer where as a freediver
relies on a single breath of air to explore the undersea world.
Moving gracefully without wasting energy, a freediver can
spend upto 7 minutes underwater and experience the ocean as
all other marine life does. Free from tanks and BCD's, a freediver
can sneak up on a leapard shark, or fin to the bottom for
a meeting with a blue spotted ray or check out the coral.
To
get started, all you need is a basic knowledge of freediving
safety, a buddy to dive with, equipment and a few tips on
technique. At Scuba Koh Chang we offer hints and tips on making
your free diving a safe and enjoyable experience.
The key to freediving is learning how to relax underwater.
Recreational freediving runs the spectrum from snorkeling
in shallow water, to making deep dives to see things beyond
the range of recreational scuba diving. However, the motivations
and activities for recreational freediving are much the same
as for recreational scuba. The disadvantage, of course, is
that your time on the bottom is limited. There are several
advantages, however, to exploring the underwater world without
tanks:
-
Less equipment means you can get the to dive in any location
so you don't need a boat.
- No bubbles which means the fish are more inquisitive
- No noise which enables the diver to hear fish and other
sounds
- Movement in the water is effortless due to reduced drag
- You will visit another dimension where you can move around
freely and become one with the sea and become great at spearfishing
which is a fantastic sport when practised away from divesites
and swimmers.
Along
with the exploration of the underwater world comes the inner
exploration of sensations and personal limits. Many people
enjoy freediving for the feeling of sinking into the depths
and floating back to the surface. Others enjoy the sensation
of their heart slowing down as the diving reflex takes hold,
or enjoy performance based freediving as a challenge; competing
in various freediving competitions.
